...

Hello Thuyen Tran and thank you for your comment.

You make an incorrect assumption. You assume I am arguing that the child should be sent back. I never once said that. In fact what I said was that I hope the courts conduct a thorough investigation. But as a Christian I do not need Sharia Law to guide me in deciding what is best.

"Would you advocate returning child to unrepentant parents if you know they were sexually abusing the kid?" No, I would not. I would advocate a long jail sentence for the parents and repentance would have no bearing. I believe the Bible (as well as human decency) would compel me to protect this child and if it is found that Rifqa's parents are guilty I pray the courts respond accordingly.

The point of my argument (which I believe you may have missed) is that Christians should look to the Bible for guidance and I believe we can find it in the Rifqa Bary case. I believe what we will find in the Bible a need to discover the truth before jumping to conclusions and the path to follow once the truth is uncovered.

As for what I said about honor thy parents: that was aimed at those who mishandled this girle when they baptized a minor without her parent's permission. I see this as a different issue from the one being heard in the courts.

"So if we as Christians truly trust in our Lord wh...

"So if we as Christians truly trust in our Lord why are we looking to Sharia Law as the motivation for our response?"

If we know that her parents would murder her under Sharia law, and we send her back, we become accomplices to her murder, that's why.

The Bible also says thou shall not murder, by the way.

Yes, the Bible says honor thy parents.

Honoring parents do not include putting oneself at risk if those parents sexually and physically abused one.

Your argument is invalid.

So let's take religion out of the equation.
