Fire & Hammer

A message of hope and a view of life through the eyes of a Christian American black.

My Photo
Name: Dennis
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

For the past 17 years I have been a husband, and for 9 years, a father. These roles are second in importance only to my role of follower of Jesus Christ. My day job is in scientific research where I study the chemical senses (smell and taste). While I enjoy my job, I am in the process of making a career change: following my boyhood dream of writing. As an American, I am concerned about the direction my country has chosen on some issues. Politically I fall right of center (conservative), but I am not a right winger. I believe the most important character trait for any person is personal integrity.

Interesting Reading December 7, 2006

December 7th 1941: Today marks 65 years since the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The Naval Historical Center has a write up on the "Day that shall live in infamy." The site also contains a page of Survivors Reports.

The Vatican is preparing a report on finding what is believed to be the sarcophagus of Paul the Apostle. Legend has it the apostle is buried under what is now Walls Basilica which is undergoing an excavation in hopes of making the sarcophagus visible. If this is Paul's sarcophagus, it makes an interesting find but should have no affect over all on the faith. (Hat Tip LaShawn Barber who shares an interesting post on the Apostle Paul.)

Gay marriage has been billed as a threat to traditional marriage and to the family. The Evangelical Outpost explains why the path taken by the gay rights movement has opened the door for another threat: polygamy.
