Fire & Hammer

A message of hope and a view of life through the eyes of a Christian American black.

Name: Dennis
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

For the past 16 years I have been a husband, and for 9 years, a father. These roles are second in importance only to my role of follower of Jesus Christ. My day job is in scientific research where I study the chemical senses (smell and taste). While I enjoy my job, I am in the process of making a career change: following my boyhood dream of writing. As an American, I am concerned about the direction my country has chosen on some issues. Politically I fall right of center (conservative), but I am not a right winger. I believe the most important character trait for any person is personal integrity.

South Dakota's Abortion Ban Signed

The governor of South Dakota signed the state's ban on abortion. The next step will be the court system. Over the next several years, this ban will climb its way through the courts up to the Supreme Court. What happens then is up for debate right now.

Some fear this is going to fail. The fear is it will entrench Roe v. Wade, making it more difficult to fight later on. I admit this may be a possibility. But as a Christian I am reminded that we fight not against flesh and blood. Yes this battle is staged in the courts, but the real war is spiritual. The court battle may eventually end with a loss. But if we can find a way to shine a light in this battle, we may change some hearts.

Independent Conservative gives a good look at the Constitution and a possible battle plan.
LaShawn Barber also chimes in.
