Lynn Swann Exposed
Bill Scranton's former campaign manager James Seif has exposed Lynn Swann and revealed that Swann is "the rich white guy in the campaign." I thought the race card would be held until the general election in November.
Scranton is running against former Pittsburgh Steeler Lynn Swann for the Republican nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania. Mr. Seif, who made his remarks during a live call-in show, said he knew he was in trouble as soon as the words rolled off his tongue. Well Mr. Seif, when you work for a man whose family name is on a county building and your main opponent is black...
Under normal circumstances I would criticize Scranton for firing Seif for a silly remark. However, Scranton is behind in the poles and does not need his campaign manager derailing his run just after leaving the station. Independent Conservative has some of the latest poll numbers.
Count me as undecided and hoping to hear more from the candidates.

I haven't really been paying attention to the primary, but I heard what Seif said. His comment was dumb, but I'm not sure it warrants firing. It's a shame that politics in this country have come to the point someone can throw away a 25 year career on one off the cuff comment. Doesn't anyone believe in forgive and forget anymore? Both sides would show a lot of class if Seif offered an apology and Swann accepted it and that was the end of it. And if both campaigns focused on building up their own guy rather than tearing down the other one, it would do the party well.
I disagree. I don't think we need to descend to the depths of liberal race-baiting. Scranton did the right thing.
